Description	:	Funeral services for Arlis Heupel, age 65, of Hettinger, ND, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger, ND. Rev. Paul Lint and Rev. Derrick Jones will officiate with burial to follow in the Hettinger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 followed by a gathering of friends and family at 7:00 p.m. all at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger. Arlis Mae Perfett was born on July 17, 1949, in Hettinger, ND, to Richard and Joyce (Moeller) Perfett, the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Hettinger and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1967. Arlis was married to Ron Klein, and to this union three children were born, Wade, Kirby and Kara. While living in Morristown, she worked at the Rocky Ridge Bar, where she was a cook and a bartender. Around 1979, she moved back to Hettinger, and began a 20 year career at the Hillcrest Care Center. She met Alvin Heupel in 1984 and moved to the farm with him. In June of 1992, Arlis and Alvin were married. She helped Alvin haul bales, farrow pigs, and wherever else she was needed. In 2001, she began working at Wheeler Manufacturing in Lemmon, where she worked in both buildings, in all areas of jewelry production. Arlis enjoyed her time there with all her co-workers. Arlis had many hobbies incluiding reading (scary books), quilting, crocheting, sewing, watching scary movies and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, two granddaughters and friends. Even though she was in a lot of pain, she still kept her witty sense of humor and her smile. She was brave and fought hard until the end; and did not let the sickness get her down. Arlis passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her son, Kirby Klein, Lemmon, SD; daughter, Kara (Shannon) Wiesinger, Lemmon, SD; two granddaughters, Melinda Klein, Watertown, SD and Brittney Wiesinger, Lemmon, SD; six step-children, Rodney (Anna) Heupel, Lorretta (Doug) Pruener, Roger (Barb) Heupel, Ross Heupel, Russel (Denise) Heupel and Redgi (Natalie) Heupel; several step-grandchildren; three sisters, Barb (Dean) Schlangen, Cindy (Shawn) Silkman, Becky (Bill) Holt; three brothers, Craig Perfett, Duane Perfett and David Perfett; sisters-in-law, Alice (Delbert) Hurst, Linda Baesler, Margie Kvanvig, Diane (Terry) Brown, and Debra Heupel; brothers-in-law, Alfred (Judy) Heupel, Leonard (Janice) Heupel, Lester (Cleta) Heupel and Ron Heupel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arlis was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Joyce Perfett; one son, Wade Klein; her husband Alvin Heupel; and her in-laws, Alfred and Nora Heupel.
