Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. Arllys Ruth Wayman was born on April 30, 1930 in O’Neill to Ben and Ruth (Coburn) Wayman. She attended country school, west of O’Neill, through the eighth grade. She graduated from O’Neill High School in 1948. She went on to attend Wayne Normal College and receive her teaching certificate. Arllys returned to the area and taught in several country schools for 5 years. Arllys married Frank Soukup on February 12, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill. To this union five children were born. The family made their home on a farm west of O’Neill. Arllys was active in the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, the Legion of Mary, card club, and was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed gardening, traveling throughout North America, playing Pitch whenever she could, watching “Gunsmoke”, and especially spending time with her grandkids. Arllys was an avid baker and made many birthday and wedding cakes. Arllys is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank Soukup of O’Neill; three sons, Gene Soukup and wife, Cindy, of O’Neill, Gary Soukup and wife, Deana, of O’Neill, Steve Soukup and wife, Connie, of O’Neill; two daughters; Barb Hascall and husband, Randy, of Tea, SD, Kathy Diez and husband, Duane, of Dakota Dunes, SD; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arllys is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ramona Wayman; one grandson, Dustin Hascall; and one granddaughter, Jenny Hascall. (biglinsmortuary.com/obituary)
