Description	:	Arlo Dwight Roberts, 80, of Troy, Iowa passed away September 24, 2015 at his home. He was born January 17, 1935 in Milton, Iowa to Vernette Earl and Opal May Cassatt Roberts. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Nuremburg, Germany. On June 21, 1958 he married Florence Smith in Pulaski, Iowa. He was born January 17, 1935 in Milton, Iowa to Vernette Earl and Opal May Cassatt Roberts. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Nuremburg, Germany. On June 21, 1958 he married Florence Smith in Pulaski, Iowa. They were married for over 50 years when Florence passed away on January 15, 2012. Arlo worked for John Morrell and then later for John Deere, retiring in 1996. While working, he also raised sheep. Arlo always made time for his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and was a big supporter of Davis County Mustang Athletics. He was a 50-year-member and Master Mason of Ottumwa Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M., past president of the D.C. “A” Club where he was instrumental in fundraising for a new track, helped Howard Buckles with auctions, and spent many hours mowing the grass at the Troy Academy and the Troy Ballpark. Arlo was also a member of the Troy United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons, Brian (Rhonda) Roberts, Eric (Tammy) Roberts both of Bloomfield; a daughter, Julie (Louie) Hill of Darien, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Kristin (Craig) Hampton, Kendal Hill, Preston, Austin, Colton, and Mason Roberts, Kylie and Kaitlyn Graves; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Ben Hampton; two step-great-grandchildren, Emma McIntyer, Drake Ratzlof; brother, Jack (Virginia) Roberts of Summersville, Kentucky; and a sister, Karen Miller of Pulaski, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence Roberts; son, Dwight Roberts; and four brothers, Vain, Venice, Rex, and George Wayne Roberts. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Burial with military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion will be at the Troy Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday with Masonic Services at 6:00 p.m. followed by family visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Davis County Dollars for Scholars or the Davis County “A” Club.
