Description	:	Arlo Van Hoever age 84 of Grinnell, Iowa and formerly of Montezuma, Iowa passed away Tuesday at his home at Windsor Manor in Grinnell. Military rites will be provided by the Blakely-Stevens American Legion Post #169. Burial will be held at a later date at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Arlo William Van Hoever was the son of Jacob and Jessie Johannes Van Hoever. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1948. He enlisted in the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. Arlo was married to Maxine Stanley on February 15, 1953 at the Stanley farm in rural Searsboro, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Penni, Danny and Ginger. Arlo owned the D-X Filling Station in Montezuma with Keith Watts before starting A and A Motor Service with Artie Craver in the early 1960's. He also worked at Vannoy Chevrolet, he owned his own mechanic shop in Searsboro and worked at various other auto mechanic shops, before going to work at Bushong Construction for 10 years retiring in 1998. Arlo enjoyed gardening, coffee time, having a good conversation with his friends and family, playing cards and above all, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he loved to tease and give nicknames. He was a 60 year member of the Blakely-Stevens American Legion Post #169 and a member of the Jackson Church of Christ.
