Description	:	Arminsia E. Wells was born in August 1834 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Samuel and Drucilla Melton Wells and the sixth of their fifteen children. Arminsia is an interesting name and every document I've found has a different spelling of the name. Arminsia married William Mansel Culbreath on July 18, 1852. The couple had four children together. Read More	Arminsia E. Wells was born in August 1834 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Samuel and Drucilla Melton Wells and the sixth of their fifteen children. Arminsia is an interesting name and every document I've found has a different spelling of the name. Arminsia married William Mansel Culbreath on July 18, 1852. The couple had four children together. William was killed in the Civil War on July 16, 1862. Her parents and siblings had moved to Choctaw County, Mississippi before the Civil War. Artminsia would have been all alone with no family, other than her dead husband's siblings. She had another son, James, in 1869. However, it is impossible to know who his father was. Sometime after 1870 the family moved to Spartanburg County, South Carolina. During that decade {1870-1880} Arminsia married Daniel Grogan. Daniel was a widower with nine children, but most of them were grown by their marriage. Daniel was a wagon maker and the couple lived in downtown Spartanburg County. Arminsia's daughter Martha Jane and her family lived with them. Daniel died sometime around 1890. Arminsia continued to live with her daughter Martha Jane {who soon became a widow herself}. After Martha Jane remarried Arminsia moved in with her son, Henry Culbreath and his family. She died sometime in the next two years. She would have been 65-67 years of age by the time of her death. She'd know much loss and pain in her lifetime. It is not known where she is buried. Probably somewhere around Inman, where the family was living or at Magnolia Cemetery with her second husband in an unmarked grave.
