Description	:	Funeral services for Arne Haukaas, killed September 7 when he fell into a well, were held Saturday in Trinity Luthran Church in Cooperstown, the Rev. A. P. Tidemann officiating. Burial was at Binford. Mr. Haukaas was cleaning a well on the Wallace Smith farm near Aneta when the accident occurred. Arne Haukaas was born January 9, 1882 at Hardanger, Norway, the son of Ole and Sophia Ludvigsen, and came to this country when he was 16 years old, landing in Philadelphia in 1899. Burial was at Binford. Mr. Haukaas was cleaning a well on the Wallace Smith farm near Aneta when the accident occurred. Arne Haukaas was born January 9, 1882 at Hardanger, Norway, the son of Ole and Sophia Ludvigsen, and came to this country when he was 16 years old, landing in Philadelphia in 1899. From there he went to Minnesota, and in the same year came to North Dakota, going first to Mayville and then to Sharon. He worked in and around Sharon until 1904, when he started farming for himself. For two years, 1920 and 1921 he also was a salesman for Rawleigh products. In 1939 he sold the farm and went into the well digging business full time. In 1946 he married Edna Olson at Binford. they moved to Cooperstown about two years ago. Besides his wife he leaves three brothers, Peter in Minneapolis, and Ander and Ludvig in Norway.
