Description	:	Arnold D. Miller was born May 7, 1935, to Ewalt and Myrtle (Boelter) Miller at O'Neill, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at an early age. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1952. Arnold was stationed in Germany from 1954 – 1957. After serving his country and being honorably discharged from the service, he returned home to farm. Read More	Arnold D. Miller was born May 7, 1935, to Ewalt and Myrtle (Boelter) Miller at O'Neill, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at an early age. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1952. Arnold was stationed in Germany from 1954 – 1957. After serving his country and being honorably discharged from the service, he returned home to farm. On June 22, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ardith McElhose. Four children were born to this union. He and Ardith farmed for many years on the family farm west of Verdigre. He later worked in Verdigre for Gordon & Don McElhose. Arnold suffered a heart attack and stroke in 1997 and was forced to retire at an early age. He remained quite active after his health problems, but a recent stroke cost him his life. Arnold was a U.S. Army Veteran and Member of the Verdigre American Legion Post #259. Arnold died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Avera Creighton Hospital in Creighton, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, Ardy of over 52 years; his children, Steve (Kathy) Miller of Columbus, Darrel (Ann) Miller of Lincoln, Jill (Mike) Novicki of Columbus and Russ (Kendra) Miller of Omaha. Arnold was blessed with ten grandchildren, Luke, Brock and Amy Miller; Derek and Laura Miller; Sam, Jake and Alex Novicki; Brooke and Kaia Miller; and one great-grandson, Noah. He is also survived by sisters, Neva (Vince) Cunningham of Erie, PA and Verna Johnson of O'Neill; brother-in-law, Larry Fults of Decherd, TN; mother-in-law, Esther Pittack of Verdigre; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barb Fults; brother-in-law, Lysle Johnson; and father-in-law, Walt McElhose. Arnold was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, neighbors and friends. He had a great love for music and dancing and called square dances for several years. Arnold was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Merle Boelter, Steve Ives, Roger Johnson, Don McElhose, Marvin Soucek and Willis Waring. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandson. Music will be provided by Nancy Pavelka and Betty Marshall.
