He moved with his family as a young child to Holyoke where he received his education through high school. He joined the US Army March 3, 1942 at Fort Logan. Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, CO, April 1990 Arnold Frank Rehfeld was born Decembber 14, 1907 at Plainview, NE, the son of August E. and Mary (Ziegfeld) Rehfeld. He moved with his family as a young child to Holyoke where he received his education through high school. He joined the US Army March 3, 1942 at Fort Logan. He was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, MO and received basic training in the Engineers Corps. After finishing basic he was sent to Angel Island, CA for two weeks before being sent to Hawaii where he was trained in the Technical phases of Combat Construction engineers. In July of 1943 he was sent to Australia where he received more training and in February 1944 was transferred to the New Guinea theatre. He was in the invasion of the Philippines on Layte Island. He was discharged September 12, 1945. He married Esther R. Nielsen on August 10, 1947 in Holyoke. She passed away in February 1986. After his marriage he worked at the Ovid Sugar Beet Factory for several years and for Cabela's Furniture Store in Chappell for many years. The family then moved to Boulder, CO where he worked as a janitor in the high school. In 1969 the family returned to Chappell and Arnold was employed at the Sedgwick High School as their janitor. He retired in 1976. He was a member of the Chappell VFW Lodge and the Four Square Gospel Church. He passed away Sunday, April 8, 1990 at the Sidney, NE Memorial Nursing Home at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held April 10, 1990 at the Four Square Gospel Church in Chappell, NE with Rev. Vincent May officiating. Burial was in the Chappell Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Chappell VFW Post. He is survived by his son, Douglas, of Chappell, NE, Doug's wife Peggy and granddaughter Ashley; two brothers: Vic and Alfred Rehfeld, both of Montrose; and three sisters: Winnie Lindsey of Montrose, Mary (Clay) Williams of Wheatland, MO and Ardis Kelly of Delta. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
