Mr. Damrau was a member of Whitfield United Methodist church in Sioux City and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 77 of Sioux City. Survivors include his wife, Fern of Westfield; two sons, Gary and his wife, Linda Damrau of Sioux City, and John and his wife, Berniece Damrau of rural Sioux City; a daughter, Julie and her husband, Staff Sgt. Steven Davis of Ellsworth AFB, S.D.; a brother, Leonard Damrau of Sioux City; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Magdaline (Peters) Damrau; three brothers and four sisters.
