Funeral services will be Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Eastern Star Masonic Home with Rev. Kristen Pike officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery. Arnold was born in Mackey, Iowa, on April 28, 1917, the son of Charles and Della (Butolph) Baker. On January 31, 1940, Arnold married Mildred Buechler at Bethany, Missouri. In earlier years, Arnold worked for Boone Dairy as a route man and he also made butter and cheese. He also worked for Western Oil Company as a route man. Later, he was superintendant for Linwood Park Cemetery for 17 years, retiring in 1982. Arnold was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. After retirement, he and Mildred enjoyed camping at Storm Lake and Don Williams Lake. Arnold enjoyed socializing, volunteer work, and attending Boone High School sports events. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Earl, Ralph, and Irvin, and two sisters Pearl Zenor and Annie Grooms. He is survived by his wife Mildred of Boone; three sons, Gerald Baker and wife MaryAnn of Decorah, Gale Baker of Boone, and Ned Baker of Huxley; two daughters, Judith Thompson of Ankeny and Donna Russell and husband Michael of Indianola; a sister Helen Norman of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
