Description	:	Art E. Carpenter, 86, of Kearney, died October 20, 2018 at the Homestead Assisted Living in Kearney. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., October 24, 2018 at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Michael Rush officiating. He graduated from Gibbon High School. Art joined the Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean War until November 1954. Art married Barbara Scofield on January 30, 1955 in Burwell. They moved to California in 1960, and Art worked for the United States Postal Service. They moved back to Gibbon in 1978 and continued working in the post office until retiring in 1986. He moved to Homestead Assisted Living in 2015. Art enjoyed feeding the robins, woodworking, golfing, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Art is survived by his daughters, Deb Carpenter of Torrance, CA, Heidi Haussermann and husband Daryl of Kearney; brothers, Vic Carpenter of Gibbon, Don Carpenter and wife Irene of Panama City, FL; sister, Violet Anderson and husband Bob of Gibbon; four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Mark and Eric; four brothers, and three sisters.
