Bridgewater Bulletin 3 May 1931 Arthur Munroe 1931 On Sunday morning the death occurred of Arthur Munroe, a well-known liked, and highly respected citizen of this town, after a brief illness of pneumonia. The deceased, who was 77 years of age, conducted a fish market on King Street for many years. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Ruth, Mrs. Archie Branen of Arlington, Mass., one son, Willis, also of Arlington, brother, James, and a sister Miss Annie, both of Bridgewater. One son, Arthur, served with the 85th Battalion in France was was killed at Vimy Ridge in 1915, and a daughter, Eva, Mrs. Morton, predeceased him two years ago. Mr. Munroe was a man of strong religious principles and was an elder in the former Presbyterian Church, and is now in the United Church. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Munroe The funeral of the late Arthur Munroe was conducted from his residence on King Street, Wednesday, May 6th at 2 p.m. Mr. Munroe was a life-long resident of Bridgewater and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his widow, who before her marriage was May Messer, daughter of the late Stephen Messer, also one son, Willis E., one daughter, Ruth (Mrs. A. B. Brannen), both of Arlington, Mass., one sister, Miss Annie, and one brother James, of Bridgewater. The service at the house was conducted by the Rev. W. M. Ryan, rector of the United Church, and at Brookside Cemetery, by the Masonic Order of which he was a valued member. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Mrs. May Munroe and family wish to thank all who in any way assisted them in their sad bereavement, also those who sent flowers, letters and cards of sympathy. Transcribed by Linda Bedford
