Brutsche were held on Sunday, Sept 19th at 2:30 from the Coder funeral home with Rev. Eugene Alexander, pastor of the Methodist church in charge. Miss Donna May Textor sang "Abide with Me" and "Beneath the Cross of Jesus," as vocal solos. Miss Loraine Steele played the piano accompaniment. Casket bearers, all American Legion members, were H. Whisler, Archer Textor and Lincoln Bowman. Interment was in the Coon Rapids cemetery where Gurney Parker American Legion Post, No. 357, had charge of the services at the grave. Life sketch as read by Rev. Alexander follows: Arthur A. Brutsche, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Brutsche, was born on a farm in Guthrie county, July 11th, 1891. He was reared and educated and lived there until the first World War. He was in service overseas until the signing of the Armistice. He then went to work in Alaska for two and a half years. After he returned from there he took up his residence in East Moline, Ill., where he was employed at the John Deere and American Machine and Metal Defense Shop, until he was taken to Hines Veterans Hospital, Hines, Ill., where he passed away at 9:45 A.M. September 16th, 1943, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 5 days. He was a member of the Veterans's of Foreign Wars and also the Fraternal Order of Eagles of East Moline, Ill. He leaves to mourn his passing his father and mother, two brothers, Fred of Geneso, Ill., and Elmer of Bayard; two nieces and four nephews and many other relatives.
