Read More	Arthur Beier died October 31, 2005, at 95 years of age in Dickinson, North Dakota, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the United Community Church in Beach, North Dakota. Arthur was born on August 15, 1910, at the foot of Rocky Butte on the family homestead south of Beach, North Dakota. He was the first born of Abe and Cora Beier. He grew up on the family homestead helping with chores and farming. He attended local schools and graduated from Beach High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1937 from what is now known as NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota. Arthur worked for the power company before he moved to Seattle to work for Boeing during the war. There he was instrumental in designing and installing radar on the B-29. He married Frances Stough in Seattle in 1941. Their children, David and Patricia, were born there. After the war, Arthur returned with his family to his father's farm near Rocky Butte, which he maintained for 60 years. He later commented that he preferred growing grain for food over building war machines. He quietly contributed his time to community service and the UCC Church in Beach. He was well known and respected in his community for his few words and gentle ways. Arthur was preceded in death by his son, David in 1988; his wife, Frances in 1997; and daughter, Patricia Bibelheimer in 2004. He leaves four grandchildren: Susan (Beier) and her husband John Schmidt of West Jordan, Utah; Jeff Beier of Wadena, Minnesota; Erik Bibelheimer of Auburn, California; and Anne (Bibelheimer) and husband Oumar Dieng of Silver Spring, Maryland. He was like a father to his son-in-law, Dr. Dan Bibelheimer of Nevada City, California. He also leaves a brother, Ralph and his wife Solveg Beier of Billings, Montana. He has one great-grandson, Timothy Bibelheimer, and five nieces and nephews. In his final hours, Arthur was blessed by a timely visit from nieces Marge Michael and Kathy Dyba, as well as brothers-in-law, William McMillan and Raymond Stough. (Sister-in-law Floy Stough McMillan was unable to travel with them.) In his last years he was kindly supported by Tim and Madonna Oech and a host of other friends in the community. Arthur will be remembered for his kindness and generosity made possible by his creativity and thrift. Memorials may be directed to the UCC Church in Beach or the American Cancer Society.
