Description	:	Arthur Benton Cullip, 65, of Bakersfield, Calif., went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2009, following a short illness from cancer. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Chaney-Reafer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at the Berean Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Dale Wesley officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery He was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Sterling, to Roy and Lela Belle (County) Cullip. Art grew up in the Sterling area until the age of 14, at which time he moved to work on a dairy farm just outside of Atwood owned by Vernon and Judy Cain. At the age of 18, Art enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for three years. During Art's life, he was part owner of A & R ambulance service as well as Sterling Machine. In 1975, Art began his career in the oil business Casper, Wyo., working for Dresser Industries-IDECO. 1992, he moved to Bakersfield, Calif., where hebecame the regional man ager for IRI-International, now known as National Oilwell Varco. In October 1965, he married Laurina Severance and became step-father to Gary Rader. They had a son, Richard, and daughter, Nicole. Art married Donna Dorsey in May 1982, and became the adopted father to Corey and Owen in 1984. Art is survived by wife, Donna; son, Richard Cullip and wife Danyel of Sterling; daughter, Nicole Richie and husband Tim of Sterling; son, Corey Cullip and spe cial friend Kat Minnick and three children of Bakersfield; son, Owen and wife Sherry of Bakersfield; three grandsons, Andrew, Anthony and Seth, as well as three granddaughters, Lindsey, Abigail, Rylee, and two pending granddaugh ters, Chenoa and Corrina. Art is also survived by two brothers, Don Cullip and wife Linda and Jerry Cullip and wife Pam, all of Sterling; four sisters, Mabel Lasley and husband Gene of Longmont,Beverly Ellsworth and husband Les and Carol Gemaehlich and husband Arnie, all of Sterling, and Melody Shepherd and husband Jerry of Ogden, Utah, and their families; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Art enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, friends, camping, a good game of rook and last but not least, making everyone he came in contact with smile. He will be dearly missed. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lela Belle; and step son, Gary.
