Description	:	Arthur "Buddy" Green, 86, of Mount Sterling, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, in Madison. He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Switzerland County, the son of Andrew and Sadie M. Peters Green. He was raised and attended school in Switzerland County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His awards included a Purple Heart. He worked for five years as a heavy equipment operator for the Switzerland County Highway Department and was a gunner for 10 years at Jefferson Proving Ground. Read More	Arthur "Buddy" Green, 86, of Mount Sterling, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, in Madison. He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Switzerland County, the son of Andrew and Sadie M. Peters Green. He was raised and attended school in Switzerland County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His awards included a Purple Heart. He worked for five years as a heavy equipment operator for the Switzerland County Highway Department and was a gunner for 10 years at Jefferson Proving Ground. He worked in construction as an operator engineer for the labor union in Indianapolis and with the New York Central Railroad in Beach Grove for 10 years. He had farmed since 1969 at Mount Sterling, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was raised in the Plum Creek Baptist Church and later became a trustee of Mount Sterling Baptist Church. He was a charter and life member of the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Burton of Moorefield; two sons, Larry Michael Green of Madison and Richard L. Green of Mount Sterling; four sisters, Catherine McManus, Alberta Reed and Lucille Phillips, all of Vevay, and Linda Poling of Quercus Grove; three brothers, Charlie Green of Center Square, Ivan Green of Patriot and Galen Green of Vevay; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Frances Baatz Green, whom he married Oct. 8, 1949, and who died Aug. 11, 2005; his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Scott and Meredith Scudder; and two brothers, Marvin Green and Allen Green. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Military honors were conducted graveside by Vevay Post 185 of the American Legion Honor Guard and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396. Madison Courier 8/25/11
