Description	:	Arthur Davis, ag 96, of 211 2nd St NE, in State Center, died Monday evening, July 8th at M.M.S.C. in Marshalltown. Funeral services were set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday from Trinity Lutheran Church in State center with Rev Richard Pierson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Friends may call at the Wensel Perrin Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday and the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born January 14, 1900 in Marietta, the son of Richard and Frederecka Fricke Davis. On October 3, 1923, at the St John's Lutheran Church in State Center he was united in marriage to Idella Gerke and she preceded him in death in October of 1995. Seven children survive; Bernice (Mrs Richard) Thorn of State Center, Bernadine (Mrs James) Randall of Marshalltown, Arlene Bogan of State Center, LaDonna (Mrs Eugene) Bakken of Lancaster, California, Dorothy (Mrs Allen) Sawyer of Allison, Iowa, Robert Davis of State Center and Darwin Davis of State Center. There are 25 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren surviving. Mr Davis was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 grandchildren, 4 brothers and two sisters. Reared and educated in the State Center area, he attended the St John's Parochial School and Engineering School in Austin, Minnesota. Following their marriage they had farmed in the State Center area and later the moved into town. After moving to town he was a mechanic in the area and retired from the State Center School District where he was a custodian. Mr Davis was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. July 11, 1996 State Center Enterprise.
