Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the First Christian Church in Kellogg with the Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a reception at the church. Burial will be in the Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg at a later date. "Earl" Faircloth Sr., 90, of Kellogg died Friday, April 4, 2008, at the St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a reception at the church. Burial will be in the Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg at a later date. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Holmdahl Park or to the Kellogg Historical Museum. Memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton or at the church on the afternoon of the service. The son of Earl B. and Helen V. (Holmdahl) Faircloth, Earl was born on Nov. 26, 1917, in Kellogg where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1935 and attended Iowa State University in Ames for three years. He was united in marriage to Joyce N. Casady on June 30, 1947, in Independence, Mo. Earl was past vice president of Midwest Manufacturing Company in Kellogg. He also served as the sexton of Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg for many years. He was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church and was a church elder, he served on the Kellogg school board and was a member of the Kellogg Cemetery Association. Earl served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing and had built several homes in Kellogg. Survivors include his three sons, David (Janet) Faircloth, Mark (Cindy) Faircloth and Art Jr. (Mary Ellen) Faircloth, all of Kellogg; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce, in 2001; a son, Jeffrey Faircloth, in 1955; a grandson, Douglas Faircloth; and a great-grandson, Tyler Faircloth.
