Description	:	Arthur E. Rydbom, age 87, of De Smet, SD died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De Smet on September 12, 2016. His services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the De Smet Community Church at 10:30 AM with visitation on Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet. Inurnment will be prior to services on Saturday morning at the De Smet Cemetery. Rydbom, age 87, of De Smet, SD died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De Smet on September 12, 2016. Arthur Ed Rydbom Jr., the son of Arthur and Kate (Boss) Rydbom, was born January 24, 1929 in the De Smet – Ewrin area where he was raised on a farm. He attended Erwin Public School. After his schooling, Art joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. He was later honorably discharged. He then went back to the family farm to help his parents. In 1976 he began working at Central By-Products in De Smet. Art was united in marriage to Venus Tiggelaar and they continued to live on the farm until 1979 when they moved to De Smet. They raised three children, William, Darla and Sonja, and after moving to DeSmet, Art continued to help out at the farm and work at Central By-Products until retiring. Art loved collecting John Deere tractors, going to antique tractor shows and watching polka on Saturday nights. He is survived by his three children, William, Darla and Sonja Doyle, all of De Smet; six grandchildren, Jaime Rydbom, Bradley, Teshia, Brandon and Tayla Doyle and Riley Myers; one great-grandchild; Katlynn Rydbom; one brother Vernon Rydbom of LaCrescent, MN; one sister Rose Ann Krause of Rockford, MN; and two sisters-in law, Vivian Rydbom of Lacy, WA and Marian Rydbom of Alexandria, SD; and many more relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Venus; four sisters, Lottie, Dorothy, Ruby and Anna; and four brothers, John, Barney, Albert and Donald. - Osthus Funeral Home
