May OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 10, 1957 ARTHUR ELMER HALTOM Arthur Elmer Haltom, son of Alfred D. and Sarah E. Haltom, was born Aug. 12, 1880 in Hamilton County, Nebr., and died at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, Jan. 2, 1957, at the age of 76 years, four months and 21 days. He was the third child in a family of four. On May 4, 1910, he was united in marriage to Viola Leona Bennett and to this union were born two children, Evelyn Heintz of Craig, Colo., and Harold Haltom of Colorado Springs, Colo. They spent 46 years of their married life, mostly in Iowa. He worked on the farm and on the railroad until his health failed. They moved to Colorado in 1928 and lived there until about two weeks before his death. He was an honest, upright citizen, generous and unselfish. He was faithful and loving and his wife, children and grandchildren will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, his son, Harold and wife, his daughter, Evelyn and husband, five grandchildren, Pearl Heintz, Georgia Hall, Fay Mosher, Annette, Larry and Jannette Haltom; three great-grandchildren, Robin Christine, Richard Claude and Kenneth Scott Hall, all of Colorado and a host of other relatives and friends. Downs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Norwood Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
