[][][][][] The Emporia Gazette Emporia, Kansas December 20, 2004 Arthur Ernest Klaus, 93, a longtime resident of LeRoy, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett, where he lived for the past 6 1/2 years. Mr. Klaus farmed and raised livestock in the LeRoy area. He also was a pumper for the C and C Oil Co. for 40 years. The son of Fred and Lydia Hartz Klaus, he was born Aug. 22, 1911, in Guymon, Okla. When he was 6 months old, his parents moved to Kansas. He married Hilda Meyer on Jan. 15, 1941, in Emporia. She survives. Mr. Klaus served on the Sunnyside Rural School board for 12 years. He is also survived by a son, Raymond Klaus of LeRoy; two daughters, Arlene Huskey of Kimberling City, Mo., and Leona Buss of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. An infant daughter, Ruby Marie Klaus, died earlier. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Aliceville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Interment was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Aliceville. Mr. Klaus died Friday, December 17, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Arthur Ernest Klaus was born August 22, 1911, at Guymon, OK, the son of Fred and Lydia (Hartz) Klaus. He came to Kansas with his parents at the age of six months and had lived in the LeRoy area all his life. He always farmed and raised livestock, and enjoyed working hard on the land. He also worked as a pumper for C&C Oil Company for 40 years. Arthur served on the Sunnyside Rural School board for 12 years. He had been a resident of Golden Heights Living Center for the past six and one half years. Arthur and Hilda Meyer were married January 15, 1941, at Emporia. Mr. Klaus was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ruby Marie Klaus. Arthur is survived by his wife, Hilda, of LeRoy; his son, Raymond Klaus and his wife, Chloe, of LeRoy; his daughters, Arlene Huskey and her husband, Harlan, of Kimberling City, MO, and Leona Buss of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Melinda Enick, Stuart and Russell Klaus, Lynette Prasko, Lisa Buss, Leslie Parker, Angela Broxterman, and Melissa Huskey; and 16 great-grandchildren.
