He was born August 20, 1886 in Osborne, Kansas, and has been a resident of this area for the past ten years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenter's Union and Friendship Circle of Eureka. Survivors include his wife, Mabel C. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Pierce Mortuary in Eureka with Rev. Lester Eisel officiating. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold H. Ellis, Ralph Whitaker, Frank Moore, Arvell Rowe, William Dickerson and William Ashby. Compilation of funeral notices published in The Times Standard on April 25 and 26, 1956 ______________________________________ Arthur was the son of Ida May Gilmore and John Mason Eveland. John's first wife was Leona B. Meeker; they were married on October 18, 1904, in Bremer County, Iowa. John married Mabel C. (Young) Putnam on March 10, 1953, in Humboldt County, CA.
