Description	:	A prominent Nebraska Hereford breeder in the southwest part of the state, Arthur G. McMillen of Sidney, died March 4, 1970. His passing occurred in the Sidney hospital and he was 67 years of age. The 1969 Nebraska Hereford Tour included a stop at the McMillen & Sons ranch, and Mr. McMillen was on hand to greet a big contingent of friends, from a wheel-chair. Funeral services for Mr. McMillen were conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Rev. Sidney McCaig officiating and burial was in the Greenwood cemetery. Mr. McMillen was born Oct. 30, 1902, at Shelton, Nebraska. He moved to Sidney with his parents in 1911 and married Edna Hammond at Sidney on June 16, 1935. He had been active in community and county affairs, serving for 17 years on the Cheyenne County Fair Board and 24 years on the Board of Education for District 5. He was a 4-H leader, an active member of both the Nebraska Stock Growers Association and the America Hereford Association and belonged to the Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow; three sons, Ronald, Kenneth and Paul, all of Sidney; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (June) Katen of Sidney; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Lyngholm of Springfield, Ore.; two brothers, Stewart of Scottsbluff and Joe of Sidney; and eight grandchildren. The A. G. McMillen Ranch Company and that of his brother, Joe McMillen & Son Ranch, had their roots around the year 1910, through founding by the late W. A. and Martha McMillen, parents. It was originally a commercial cow-calf operation until 1937 when they purchased their registered cows.
