Art was born November 20, 1929 in York County, NE. to Abel Henoch Simeon and Lydia (Rabe) Heiden. Art farmed in the York area as well as worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads for 45 years. He had been a member of the Nebraska National Guard. Art and Shirley Stuhr were united in marriage on September 20, 1959 south of Waco, NE. Art was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer and enjoyed pheasant hunting until his health declined. Art loved working with farm animals and attending antique tractor shows. His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors are: wife Shirley Heiden of York, NE.; sons Allan (Teresa) Heiden of Longs, S.C. and Joel Heiden of Benedict, NE.; daughter Dawn (Harvey) Cool of Beaver Crossing, NE.; grandchildren, Alyssa and Kaylee Heiden of Longs and Tiffany and Stephanie Cool of Beaver Crossing; sisters Myrtle (Henry) Pankoke of Seward, NE. and Pearl Chesley of Lincoln, NE. and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers-in-law. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, York, NE. Published York New Times May 30, 2012
