Johnson Funeral services for Arthur H. Johnson, 63, prominent wheat rancher, will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Martin Wolter officiating. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery. The body will lie in state at the McKown funeral home from 11 a.m. Sunday to 3 p.m. when it will be taken to the family residence, 2215 Fifteenth street, there to lie in state till the services. Relatives and friends will pray the rosary there at 8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Johnson, resident of Columbus for many years, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday morning at his wheat ranch at Dix. He had been under the doctor's care for the past two years for high blood pressure, but in spite of this he personally supervised details of his business operations until his sudden death. Before being entrained for Columbus, his body had lain in state at Kimball a short while Friday afternoon and friends there prayed the rosary during that time. Born in Platte county on Nov. 26, 1887, Mr. Johnson was one of 13 children born to Thomas H. and Mary Fleming Johnson. He received his early education in the Platte county rural schools and St. Francis academy in Columbus, later attending the Columbus Business college. He learned the business of farming and stock-raising, and after his father's death in 1913, managed the Johnson farm in Columbus township. He was united in marriage to Minnie Dischner on Jan. 18, 1921 at St. Bonaventure Catholic church, and they had a family of seven children. Mr. Johnson had extensive land holdings in western Nebraska, near Dix, and for the past 30 years spent his summers there, doing wheat farming on a large scale. A member of St. Bonaventure church, he had formerly held membership in the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name society. He was affiliated with the Eagles lodge, and politically, Mr. Johnson was associated with the democratic party. He is survived by his widow; seven children, Arthur J. of Norristown, Pa., Mrs. William (Alice) Vorce of Denver, James F. of the U.S. naval training center at San Diego, Mrs. Vernetta Foote, Everett L., Marilyn and Jack, all of Columbus; and three grandchildren. Other immediate survivors are his four sisters and six brothers: Mrs. R.J. (Grace) Riley of Minneapolis; Mrs. Sam (Lillian) Kluck of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. H.R. (Agnes) Gunerman of Atlantic, Ia.; Frank O. of Pueblo, Colo.; Edward of Omaha; John T., Phil, Mike, Joe and Miss Nellie Johnson, all of Columbus.
