Liebing was born January 23, 1904, in Milbank, S.D., the son of Joseph and Ella Liebing. The family moved to the Marion community when he was a boy. He was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church and received his education in a rural Marion school. On October 6, 1927, he married Beatrice Duven in her farm home in Greenland Township. They farmed and continued to live there. Liebing was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church and had served on the board of the Rural Telephone Co. He is survived by his wife; a son Donald of Marion; three daughters, Mrs. Wesley (Luella) TenPas of rural Litchville, Mrs. Dennis (Beth) Johnson of Vermillion, S.D. and Mrs. Darrel (Myrna) Hill of Oakes. A brother, Alvin of Wilson Creek, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Pearl) Kiefert of Benson, Minn., and Mrs. Eldred (Norma) Ellis of Port Orford, Ore. And 15 grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and daughter. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Marion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Hart officiating. Pallbearers will be Duane TenPas, David Kragnes, Roger and Thomas Liebing, Duane Matzke and Harold Kiefert. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Oliver's Chapel.
