Description	:	Arthur Henry Nordman, age 97, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Ernest and Clara (Reichert) Nordman on July 22, 1920, in the Pleasant Valley area, north of Clarksville. He was baptized at the “Evangelische Lutherische Unierte Gemeinde von Pleasant Valley Church” on August 29, 1920, and joined this church on August 26, 1934. Read More	Arthur Henry Nordman, age 97, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Ernest and Clara (Reichert) Nordman on July 22, 1920, in the Pleasant Valley area, north of Clarksville. He was baptized at the “Evangelische Lutherische Unierte Gemeinde von Pleasant Valley Church” on August 29, 1920, and joined this church on August 26, 1934. Arthur graduated from Clarksville High School. Arthur was inducted into the Ground Force of the Air Corps on December 5th, 1942, along with another Clarksville resident, Harvey Klunder. Arthur was discharged in January 1946. Arthur was united in marriage with Anna DePuew on May 15, 1949, at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. They lived their entire life in Clarksville until they moved to Bartels Retirement Community in 2001. Arthur was employed at the Shield-Bantam Plant and later for other companies at the Waverly Plant site until his retirement. He was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. An important project for Arthur and Anna was to compile information dealing with marriages and deaths as reported in old issues of the Clarksville Star, starting with the 1872 issue. They started this project in 1991 and completed it in the spring of 1992. The information included the newspaper source date. The page and the column was also added for further reference on the individual file cards. The Nordmans donated a copy of all the findings from their research project to the Clarksville Public Library. This file enriched and enhanced the Library’s resources available to many people in their quest for genealogy information. The file continues to be a quick reference for many researching local information on Clarksville history. Arthur assisted with proofreading and filing the 4000 cards of their project. The Nordmans also did considerable genealogy research for their own family trees using several different methods in their search. Arthur died Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Bartels Retirement Community in Waverly, of natural causes. He passed away one day short of his 98th birthday. He is preceded in death by Anna, his wife of 52 years on April 27, 2002 and his parents; two brothers, Walter and Vernon Nordman and one sister in infancy. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. John Lutheran Church, (319)278-4245. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church.
