August 11, 1911 Slipping on the car, Arthur Arbogast of Christiansburg, fell under the wheels of a freight on the ST&P interurban line near the power house yesterday afternoon, resulting in the loss of his right foot. Mr Arbogast fell in such a way that his right foot stuck out on the track. The moving car severed the foot at the ankle. Arbogast was placed on a car and taken to Springfield where he was removed to the hospital in the patrol wagon as the ambulance was busy on other calls. Arbogast is 45 years old... Arbogast is 45 years old and has been employed by the ST&P company for several years. He has been helping load the freight car and was ready to start when the accident occurred. Dec 14, 1933 The marriage of Miss Ella Richeson, daughter of John and Martha Richeson, to Arthur Arbogast, son of John and Martha Arbogast, took place Thanksgiving Day Nov 29, 1883 at the Methodist parsonage in St Paris. They were attended by Miss Susan Richeson, sister of the bride, and Andrew Bowers who were later married and who both passed away several years ago. Mr and Mrs Arbogast have spent all of their life in and around Christiansburg, Mr Arbogast having held various positions. Eleven years were spent at farming, 20 years on the railroad and for the past 11 years as janitor of Christiansburg School. Mrs Arbogast has reached the age of 78 years and although not able to get out much, always greatly enjoys the visits of friends and relatives. Mr Arbogast has reached the age of 76 years and is seldom absent from his duties. Their sons presented them with a radio in memory of the day. Mr and Mrs Arbogast also have 3 granddaughters, Helen Arbogast of St Paris and Isabelle and Virginia of Troy.
