ARTHUR “Art” HIBRAY is survived by: His sons – Dennis (Debbie) of DePere, Wisconsin; Douglas (Rita) of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; Rob (Dale) of Nashville, Tennessee; Blake (Linda) of Wake Forest, North Carolina. His twin-sister: Lola Hartwig, of McMinnville, Oregon. 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. - - - - - - - - - - Arthur Hibray May 7, 1926 - June 15, 2020 Arthur James Hibray was born May 7, 1924 in Martin, South Dakota. He was one of four children, born to Roy Oscar and Anna Esther (Kline) Hibray. His early years were spent in attending country school near Allen, SD in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, graduating from Bennett County High School at Martin, SD and attending Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD for two years. Three years were spent as a Navy pilot in World War II, serving 16 months in the Pacific Theater, primarily in the Philippine Islands, flying PBY “Catalina” seaplanes, performing anti-submarine patrols and air-sea rescue missions. Later he was transferred to an Air Transport Squadron flying C-47 Transports. Personnel, including USO troupes, and supplies were flown wherever needed-Australia, New Guinea, Philippines, Formosa, China, Japan, and many Pacific islands. He received a Commercial Pilot’s License for Single and Multi-engine Land and Seaplanes. After his Naval Service, he attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, with majors in Animal Science and Agronomy. On September 17, 1950, Art was united in marriage to Donafae Sindt at the First Christian Church in Ames, IA. Four children were born to this union. Art was employed by Iowa State University as a County Extension Director for ten years, serving in Clarion, Allison, and Webster City, Iowa. He worked for six years as a District Salesman for Ralston-Purina Co., St. Louis, MO while residing in Humboldt, IA. He moved to Fairmont, MN and Sun Prairie, WI to accept a position as Area Sales Manager for International Multifoods of Minneapolis, MN, serving Wisconsin and Northern Illinois for ten years. In 1974 he came to Harlan, IA as Manager of the Feed Division for Farm Service Co-op, serving in this capacity until his retirement in 1989. Art was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Harlan, serving on may boards and committees. He was active in the Harlan Golden K Kiwanis Clnub, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. Art is survived by twin-sister Lola Hartwig of McMinnville, Oregon. Surviving children are Dennis (Debbie) of DePere, Wisconsin; Douglas (Rita) of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; Rob (Dale) of Nashville, Tennessee; Blake (Linda) of Wake Forest, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
