Glidden, Aged 62, a former foreman of the Marshalltown Buggy Company, died at his home, 203 East Webster street, at 6 o’clock this morning of pneumonia, following a short sickness. Mr. Glidden was not feeling in his usual health last week, but was not forced to take to his bed until Sunday. Mr. Glidden had been a resident of this city for twenty-nine years. For many years he was a foreman of the wood working department. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Modern Brotherhood of America and Modern Woodmen of America. Arthur James Glidden was born in Binghampton, N.J., April 4, 1855. He was 9 years old when his parents came to Iowa and settled in Winneshiek county. Later the family moved to Louisa county. Mr. Glidden had been married twice. His first wife, with whom he was united in marriage in Louisa county on Dec. 25, 1878, was Miss Calla W. Rawhouser. On July 27, 1889, at Cedar Rapids, Mr. Glidden took as his wife Miss Mary Glidden. She survives her husband, together with her two children and four children by the first marriage. The latter are: Mrs. L.E. Lurvey, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. D.S. Talbott, Elizabethtown, N.J.; N. Eugene Glidden, Midland, Mich.; and W.A. Glidden, Centralia, Wash. Mrs. R.E. White of this city and Miss Pearl Glidden, of Des Moines, are the children of the second marriage. One brother, J.R. Glidden lives in Denton, Md.
