Arthur John Klein was born December 2, 1916, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the son of Fritz and Sophie (Naber) Klein. He was raised and attended school in the Lindy and Bloomfield, Nebraska, area. In 1942, he moved to the Oregon area, where he lived until 1947. He married Thressia Josephine Hansen on October 2, 1939, in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple returned to Iowa and have remained in the general area since. He worked on the farm for several years and later for Woodbury County in the maintenance department. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was active in the Moville Senior Center and enjoyed gardening, yard work, woodworking, family gatherings and tinkering with mechanics. He also enjoyed conversations and visiting. Survivors include his wife, Thressia Klein; five children and their spouses, Gerald and Regene Klein of Hinton, Iowa, JoAnn and Kenneth "Dutch" Jahn of Moville, Brad and Bernadine Klein of Kansas City, Kansas, Linda and Ret. Maj. Robert Peters of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Debora and Dr. Michael Podomek of Sioux City; a sister, Elaine Pietzmeir of Papillon, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Allan Klein, Randy Jahn and Kelly Peters; five brothers, Fred, Ray, Glen, Herb and Elmer Klein; and a sister, Mag Ermels.
