He was united in marriage to Esther Cook April 26, 1916, and to this union were born 5 sons and 2 daughters. Mr. Edgerton resided in Chariton for 29 years, and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was employed by Gartin's Super Value store prior to his retirement in 1960. He was preceded in death by his [wife], father, mother, one son: Merle, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and leaves to mourn his passing, 4 sons: Harold of Woodburn, Willard of Chariton, Lloyd of Lamoni, Dwight of Oquawka, Illinois; 2 daughters: Evelyn Nitchman of Santa Monica, California, and Dorothy Howard of Ottumwa; 3 sisters, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God Church, Thursday, May 14, 1964, with the Rev. J. C. Hook officiating. Interment was in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County. Pallbearers were Ed Crandall, John Adcock, Charles Cravatt, Marvin Reynolds, Earl Smith, and Cyril Curtis. Miley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
