Description	:	Died, Aug. 9th, 1895, Arthur J Guilford, aged 33 years, 6 months and 5 days. The predisposing cause of death was typhoid fever, the exciting or immediate cause being failure of the heart's action. Obsequies held at Richland church, 11 am on Sunday last. Rev Deal, assisted by Rev Fye, conducted the sad rites and chose as the foundation for the sad and emotional address the very appropriate words found in 1st Cor. 15th chapter and 6th verse, "Some are fallen asleep" A large concourse of people were in attendance and friends and neighbors vied with each in paying tribute... Rev Deal, assisted by Rev Fye, conducted the sad rites and chose as the foundation for the sad and emotional address the very appropriate words found in 1st Cor. 15th chapter and 6th verse, "Some are fallen asleep" A large concourse of people were in attendance and friends and neighbors vied with each in paying tribute to the highly respected deceased. The floral offerings were many and tasteful, the beautiful casket being loaded with a wilderness of flowers. The church organ bore a beautiful motto in letters of living green, "At Rest," while the chancel was draped in mourning bunting. A cross of carnations and wreathes of petunas and geraniums surmounted the casket and beautiful native flowers in all their beauty of variegated colors encircled the receptacle of the dead. A choir of twenty voices sang touching and pathetic selections, while Miss Emma Fye presided at the organ. Mr Guilford had for several years lived at the residence where he died and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Of him may it well be said, he was the noblest work of God, an honest man. A wife, five children, many relatives and a large circle of friends mourn his death. The funeral services were held at Richland, Sunday at 11 o'clock. It was one of the largest funerals we ever witnessed at Richland. Arthur was a good man and known all over the north part of the county as a great Sunday school worker. Blessed are they who die in the Lord for they shall see God.
