Description	:	Arthur Junior Oyer, 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 peacefully in his home. He was born December 8, 1933 in Mechanicsburg, the son of Jess and Agnes (Northup) Oyer, one of 5 sons and 2 daughters. Arthur served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1960 and was stationed in Korea. He retired from International in 1985 after 30 years of service to spend most of his time with his granddaughter, who he loved dearly. Read More	Arthur Junior Oyer, 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 peacefully in his home. He was born December 8, 1933 in Mechanicsburg, the son of Jess and Agnes (Northup) Oyer, one of 5 sons and 2 daughters. Arthur served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1960 and was stationed in Korea. He retired from International in 1985 after 30 years of service to spend most of his time with his granddaughter, who he loved dearly. He married Marcella Hamer in 1956 and they raised 2 wonderful children. Arthur was a very family oriented person, especially to his great grandson whom he worshiped. He loved flea markets, auctions and giving fruits and vegetables to friends and neighbors. He enjoyed going to the Argosy and buying cash explosion lottery tickets. He enjoyed talking with many friends at Castle's Restaurant when his health was better. He is survived by his wife of 54 ½ years, Marcella; his children, Melanie (Ken) Agerter of Urbana and Duane Oyer of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Brandy (Jerrod) Burks, Skylor Miller, Sadie Oyer, Dominic Miller, Mikaela Oyer, Max Oyer; step-grandchildren, Jesse, Matt and Andy Agerter; great grandchild, Zachary Billing, step-great grandchild, Caden Agerter; brother, Roger (Patsy) Oyer; sister, Sharon (Max) Eaton; sister-in-laws, Susie (William) Westfall, Trina (Richard) Hursh, Barbara Harsh and Ruth (Frank) Oyer; several nieces and nephews and special neighbors Debra Walters and Carmela Wiant. Jr is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max, William and Frank; sister, Clare Ellen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Aunalie (Long) Hamer; grandmother, Nora Northrup and niece, Tracy Oyer. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Linden Good officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerrod Burks, Skylor Miller, Dominic Miller, Max Oyer, Ken Agerter and Dick Hursh. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Oyer, Zachary Billing, Duane Oyer, Max Eaton and William Westfall, Jr.
