Art was born Nov. 9, 1919, northwest of Cozad to Christian and Altje (Broer) Buss. Arthur grew up in the Cozad and Gothenburg areas. He completed the 7th grade at Gothenburg Public Schools. His parents had passed away by the time he was 14 years old, leaving Arthur and his younger brother, Ralph, to support themselves. They worked for area farmers for room and board while Arthur concurrently held the job of lighting the street lamps in Gothenburg. ... Read More	Arthur L. "Art" Buss, 91, of Cozad died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Golden Living Care Center in Cozad. Art was born Nov. 9, 1919, northwest of Cozad to Christian and Altje (Broer) Buss. Arthur grew up in the Cozad and Gothenburg areas. He completed the 7th grade at Gothenburg Public Schools. His parents had passed away by the time he was 14 years old, leaving Arthur and his younger brother, Ralph, to support themselves. They worked for area farmers for room and board while Arthur concurrently held the job of lighting the street lamps in Gothenburg. Art entered the United States Army on March 4, 1942. He proudly served his country during World War II in Rhineland, Germany and Central Europe. Arthur served as a machine gunner until his honorable discharge on December 1, 1945. On November 16, 1946, Arthur married Virginia Kostman at Norton, KS. To this union 2 children were born, Judy and Jonathan. The couple lived in the Cozad area after they were married and later made their home in North Platte; where Arthur worked for the 7R Ranch. After 8 years of hard and faithful work, the couple moved their family back to Cozad in 1985. Art always told Virginia that she was the love of his life; they were married for 64 years. He was a family man that loved to do things for his loved one's; and he loved to be with his grandchildren, especially camping, horseback riding and letting them help him run the swather. Arthur had a special love for horses. His sister, Margaret, said he would always make sure his horses were fed before he ate. Art was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Grace Buss, Margaret Buesing and Freda Parsons; brothers, Benjamin, Walter and Ralph; 2 sisters-in-law, Devona and Artis Buss and brothers-in-law, Herbert Parsons and George Buesing. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia of Cozad; son, Jon Buss of Cozad; daughter, Judy Rhoadarmer of Eustis; grandchildren, Greg Rhoadarmer of Eustis and Heather Rhoadarmer of Lincoln and a host of relatives and friends Published in the Kearney Hub on 4/21/2011
