Born Nov. 25, 1932, in Columbus Junction he was the son of Charles M. and Florence M. Carlson Jennings . On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Beverly Jean Timmerman. She died April 5, 2008. Mr. Jennings was a retired, licensed funeral director and worked as a police officer for the city of Mount Pleasant for 13 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years and was a graduate of the Wisconsin Institute for Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a former member of Mount Pleasant Masonic Lodge 8 A.F. and A.M., Mount Pleasant Kiwanis Club and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a former member of the Iowa and National Funeral Directors' Associations. He enjoyed animals and the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization. Survivors include one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gaye Richenberger of Plano, Texas; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, his parents and one sister. The graveside service for Mr. Jennings and his wife will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Chuck Comfort officiating. The body has been cremated. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
