Services were Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. James Steen officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. Arthur was born on Feb. 20, 1920 in Yankton, S.D., to Ole and Anna (Evensen) Eide. He was educated in Yankton, S.D. Following his education, Art enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, and was a veteran of World War II. On Feb. 25, 1939, he married Evelyn Christensen in Yankton. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2003. Art was confirmed on May 13, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton. In 1962, they moved to Cherokee, where Art went to work for Louie Katzman at his farm store. He later worked for Lee's Hardware in Cherokee for many years. Art was a wonderful woodworker and enjoyed working with oak. He also liked to fish. Art especially enjoyed his family and lived for his kids and grandkids. He is survived by a son, Richard Eide of Pomeroy, Iowa; a daughter, Dianna Langholdt and her husband, Terry of Cherokee; two sisters, Marge Hogan and her husband, Dan of Minnesota, and Ruth Brugert of California; a brother, Bob Eide of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Debbie Witzke of Varina, Iowa, Brenda Braunschweig and her husband, Randy of Newell, Iowa, Rennie Eide and his wife, Lisa of Le Mars, Iowa, Leah Movall and her husband, Larry of Pomeroy, Iowa, Angelia Agnitsch and her husband, Matt, of Cherokee, Chad Langholdt and his wife, Jami of Sioux City, and Tricia Koster and her husband, Cory of Brookings, S.D.; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Vernon Christensen and his wife, Jean of Vermillion, S.D.; and a sister-in-law, Norma Christensen of Yankton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Eide; three sisters and a brother.
