Description	:	Conway, SC Arthur Paul Chestnut, age 77, died peacefully at his home Saturday morning surrounded by his family. Mr. Chestnut was born July 12, 1934 in Conway, a son of the late Arthur and Nina Vereen Chestnut. He graduated from Conway High School in 1952 and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Paul was employed with Johnson Cotton Company, Brown Pontiac and retired from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety after thirty-eight years of service. Read More	Conway, SC Arthur Paul Chestnut, age 77, died peacefully at his home Saturday morning surrounded by his family. Mr. Chestnut was born July 12, 1934 in Conway, a son of the late Arthur and Nina Vereen Chestnut. He graduated from Conway High School in 1952 and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Paul was employed with Johnson Cotton Company, Brown Pontiac and retired from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety after thirty-eight years of service. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Conway where he served as Usher Chair and on various committees. He was a faithful member of the Men's Sunday School Class and enjoyed the fellowship it offered. Paul was a Mason, member of the Conway Kiwanis Club and was often involved in the reunion affairs of his high school class. An avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his friends and family. He will be remembered by his many friends as an upbeat person with a witty sense of humor, quick with a hug and kind word. Paul was predeceased by a sister, Annie Lou McClellan. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Vivian Elvis Chestnut, two daughters, Lynn Chestnut Smith and Paula Chestnut Johnson and one son-in-law, Ellison Matthew Smith, III, all of Conway, Paul was blessed to have four grandchildren, Charlotte Jordan Smith, Ellison Matthew Smith, IV, Augustus Towns Smith, II and Marley Emerson Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
