Description	:	Funeral services for the late A. P. Himebaugh were held in the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Mr. Himebaugh died from a heart attack the previous Monday at 4:10 p.m. Interment was in the Hopkinton cemetery. The Rev. David S. de Best, pastor, was in charge. The Rev. David S. de Best, pastor, was in charge. Members of the local American Legion post of which Mr. Himebaugh was a charter member attended in a body. Other Legionnaires from this and Jones county also were prominent. The large concourse of Friends which made up the funeral cortege taxed the capacity of the church and overflowed on the church grounds giving ample testimony to the high esteem in which Mr. Himebaugh was held. The floral tributes were beautiful and profuse. A.P. Himebaugh, son of the late E.L. Himebaugh and Mae Moats Himebaugh was born in Scotch Grove township, Jones County, Iowa, June 27,1895 and grew to manhood there. Later the family removed to the town of Scotch Grove. Mr. Himebaugh served in the land forces of the United States during the First World War and was stationed overseas for more than a year. On September 18, 1919, he was married to Vena Gearhart of Hopkinton. All of their married life was spent here. Two children were born to the couple, Lois, now Mrs. Marvin Rhine, of Palo Alto, Calif., and Phillip at home. Surviving are the widow of two children, the mother, Mrs Mae Himebaugh, of Scotch Grove and the following brothers and sisters: Frank of Center Junction and Leslie of Scotch Grove. Mrs. C.R. Carson of Hopkinton, Mrs. Paul Dartig of Wilton Junction and Mrs. Paul Paulsen Jr., of Scotch Grove. Mr. Himebaugh was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He also served as a member of the Solder's Relief Commission of Delaware County for several years. For many years Mr. Himebaugh devoted the major portion of his time to the sale of nursery stock through this section. Several months ago, because of failing health he relinquished that position, and gave all of his time to an ever increasing real estate business. Of a sunny disposition he had the happy facility of being able to sell, and because of his wide acquaintance made many transactions the average salesman would not have been able to consummate. In the death of "Art" Himebaugh, Hopkinton loses one of its outstanding citizens. He was always so licentious for the welfare of friends and acquaintances. This is best evidenced through his efforts in behalf of those Legionnaires and their families who came under his supervision as a member of the Solder's Relief Commission. In this connection also were other friends who felt the hand of sorrow envelop them and had his deepest and earnest sympathy. That his countless acts of mercy did not fall upon stony ground and smother out but fell upon good soil and bore fruit a thousand fold is manifest in the large assemblage that came to pay him homage at the funeral services on Friday. Mr. Himebaugh derived a great amount of satisfaction from his home. He was a kind and indulgent father and helpmate in all that implies. "Art" Himebaugh gave of his time and efforts unstintingly in the promotion of everything of a worthwhile nature for Hopkinton. He will be missed in this respect as he will at school and college activities. The business houses remained closed during the funeral services. Pall bearers were: Doran E. Beitz, G.G. Brown, Marshall Neil of Hopkinton, Sylvan N. Bixby of Dundee, E.E. Griffith of Greeley, Ray Sanford of Scotch Grove. Relatives from a distance present at the Himebaugh funeral included: Mrs. Lulu Rothlisberger, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Patterson, Elgin, Iowa, Harrison Loomis, Colorado Springs, CO, Mrs. Warren Porter, Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Ida Himebaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Joy Himebaugh, Manchester, Glen and Lyle Moats, Volga City, IA., Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Keller, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Britton and family, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Morris, Earlville.
