The body was brought here Monday, accompanied by his son, Frank Benbow and wife and the latter's sister, of Cincinnati and taken to the home of Joseph Benbow, a brother, where funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock. The Rev. Truitt of the Christian church, conducted the service. Songs were rendered by Mrs. Ed Mason, Mrs. W. H. Porter, and Messrs. Mahlon Gebhart and Frank Geisler. Burial was made in the Brick church cemetery. The bearers were J. M. Hartley, Hugh Allen,M. Conniff, John Dixon, John Macy and Aaron Woollard, all war comrades. Mr. Benbow was a civil war veteran member of Co. E, 36th Ind. vol. infantry. OBITUARY Arthur Thomas Benbow, son of Powell and Rachel Benbow, was born at Greensfork, Ind., November 15, 1834, and departed this life October 13, 1916, aged 81 years, 10 month and 28 days. His life work was that of a farmer, living near to nature, recognizing in every line of life Nature's God and God's divine law. He lived out his ideal of honesty which he kept and taught as life's motto. He heard his country's call, and as a member of company E, 36th Ind. Vol. Infantry, went forth int he struggle of the civil war. Here he exhibited that courage characteristic of a good soldier and loyal to every trust. A comrade has said of him: He was the embodiment of honor, and all were his friends. He was married to Miss Roseanna Clemens in 1866. After 20 years of wedded life, a life of mutual devotion, this earthly tie was broken, for death came into the home and took the dearest of the family circle, leaving the children without a mother, the father without a companion. Five children were born to them--Charles M. and Mary E. preceded their father to the life beyond. Arthur F., of Cincinnati, Thomas J. and J. Knode, of Montana, remain to mourn their father's departure, with two grandchildren, five brothers and one sister and many friends. Beyond the cares of life and better fain, Beyond the tho't to wealth and earthly gain. Beyond the realm of passion and of strife, Beyond all thought of evil in this life. Father is called from this earthly way To dwell in that land of eternal day."
