Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Pam Saturnia of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dave Martz, Keith Martz, Paul Barnes, Roger Horst, Kurt Sissel, and Dean Stecher. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Medical Center, West Campus. Mr. Sissel was born on Feb. 23, 1920, in Muscatine County, the son of William Arthur and Fern Inez Eis Sissel. He married Vera Helen Hager on May 25, 1947, in Maquoketa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a farmer, and had retired from Carver Pump Company in 1989. He had worked for Muscatine County mowing ditches and also had worked for Farm Service. Survivors include his wife, Vera Sissel, of Blue Grass, three daughters, Pat Lane and her husband, Greg, of Stillwater, Minn., Carla Streger and her husband, Ron, of Muscatine, and Karen Gray and her husband, Steve, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Rob and Angela Lane, Jake Gray, Debbie Darrough and Dena Bates; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Sissel of Muscatine; and one sister, Lavona Couillard and her husband, Mike, of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
