Description	:	Aberdeen - Mass of Christian Burial for Art "Artie" Dreis, 54, of Aberdeen will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Father Brian Simon, Father James P. Morgan and Father James Zimmer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. There will be a liturgical wake service and rosary 7 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the mortuary. Dreis was born Sept. 12, 1950, at Hoven, S.D., where he was raised, attended Hoven schools, and graduated from Hoven High School in 1968. Artie was proud to have been raised at Hoven and to have been a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Hoven, also known as the Cathedral on the Prairie. Artie worked for the Hoven UBC Lumber Yard and the Hoven Co-op for several years. Artie married Kathy McGarry Sept. 7, 1974, at Hoven, S.D. They later moved to Aberdeen. Artie worked for Eilers Construction for several years. In 1988 he started working for Bob Friske Plumbing. Due to his years of experience in plumbing, Artie was given the opportunity to challenge the state of South Dakota Plumbing Commission by successfully completing an exam given by the state of South Dakota. By completing this exam, he received the highest honors of a master's plumber license. In 1997, Artie started working for Haar Plumbing and Heating. Artie truly enjoyed his work, visiting with all of his many repeat customers who would specifically ask for Artie. He especially enjoyed the friendships he made over the years working with all his colleagues at Haar Plumbing. Artie retired from Haar Plumbing and Heating in January of 2005 due to ill health. Artie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was a church lector and Eucharistic minister for many years. Artie enjoyed woodworking and sharing his projects by giving them as gifts to family and friends. Artie enjoyed the outdoors and loved nature. He built bird and squirrel houses, and feeders for his back yard, where he enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels. Artie enjoyed reading, especially South Dakota history and the history of Native Americans and their cultures. Artie loved flying planes. Artie's family was everything to him; he was very proud of his children. Those who will miss him most are his wife, Kathy of Aberdeen; his father, William Dreis of Hoven; three sons, Casey (Stacy) Dreis of Brookings, S.D., Patrick (Tina) Dreis of Aberdeen, and Scott (Laura) Dreis of Aberdeen; one daughter, Erin Dreis of Aberdeen; one brother, Robert (Jean) Dreis of Hoven; and one granddaughter, Lilly Dreis, who was just born May 27, 2005. Artie was preceded in death by his mother. Pallbearers will be his four children, Casey, Patrick, Scott, and Erin, his brother, Robert, and Dennis Lewno. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Weber, Norbert Thomas, Gordon Huber, Rod Gilbert, Francis Karst, Vernon Kaiser, and all of his colleagues at Haar Plumbing and Heating.
