Surviving him are his parents, three brothers, Rufus of Lake View, Alvin of Early ad Luverne of Rantoul, Ill. and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Albrecht of Wall Lake, and Lois and Helen at home. The bereaved parents and other relatives have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in this hour of sorrow. The Lake View Resort - 2/10/1938 ARTHUR KOWALKE FUNERAL WAS LARGELY ATTENDED Funeral services for Arthur Kowalke were held last Thursday afternoon from the Presbytarian church in Wall Lake, with the Rev. Edson M. Bell officiating. The two beautiful hymns, "God's Way is the Best Way", and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by a male quartette comprising Lee Willhoite, Richard Nomsen, Warren Frerichs and Donald Prange. Carl Wollesen, Harry Wollesen, Lester Westrom, Ralph Wade, Raymond Stock and Raymond Lange served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Wall Lake cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever held from the Presbytarian church and the floral offerings were so numerous that two cars were required to transport them to the cemetery. Among those present from a distance were Arthur's brother, Laverne, of Rantoul, Ill., Lou Wollesen of Marshall, Minn., R. and Mrs. Geo Irwin, of Bagley, Iowa. Laverne, in the government service at Chanutefield, Rantoul, made the trip to Fort Dodge by airplane as a courtesy which the government extends in such cases to its employees. Arthur William Kowalke, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kowalke, was born June 14, 1905, and was 32 years, 7 months and 24 days of age when he passed away on February 8th at the Carroll hospital following a three weeks' illness with pneumonia. He received his education in the rural school near his home. A young man of excellent character, he was esteemed and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Ed Albrecht of Wall Lake, and Lola and Helen at home; and by three brothers, Rufus of Lake View, Alvin of Nemaha, and LaVern of Rantoul, Ill. His passing in the prime of life has been a blow to his relatives and wide circle of friends, and only time with its healing touch can efface the memory of the sorrow caused by his death.
