Hehn, 43, Stanley, North Dakota, long time resident of the Gackle community died suddenly Wednesday noon October 14, 1964 at the family home in Stanley. Death was attributed to a heart condition. He was born May 17, 1921 at Omemee North Dakota, the son of Edward Hehn and Elizabeth Remboldt Hehn. In the year 1924 the family moved to the Streeter area, where they farmed until 1932 when they moved to the Gackle community. He attended the local schools and grew to manhood in the Gackle and Streeter area. On June 4, 1944 he and Eldina Sommerfeld were married in Gackle, North Dakota, where he worked as an employee until 1951. During the past thirteen years he was employed as a parts sales manager for the Remboldt Garage & Implement in Gackle. The family moved to Stanley on September 1, 1964, where he was employed by the Stanley Equipment Company as a parts sales manager. He was a member of the Gackle Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Darlen Hehn, Fargo, North Dakota; his father, Edward Hehn; his stepmother, Mrs. Magdalena Fischer Steinstra Hehn, Gackle, N.D.; one brother, Eddie H. Hehn, rural Gackle; one sister, Lydia (Mrs. Walter Fischer), Jamestown; one step brother, Clifford Steinstra, Moorhead, Minn.; one step sister, Frances (Mrs. Burley Kirkoff), Kalamazoo, Mich. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1942, one sister, Mrs. Ed C. Remboldt in 1959. The funeral service for Artie E. Hehn, Stanley, North Dakota and formerly of Gackle, was held on Saturday, October 17, 1964 at the First Congregational Church in Gackle with Rev. Emanuel Gackle, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Emanuel Gackle played a program of organ music as friends and relatives came into and left the church. "Beyond the Sunset" was sung by a trio; Mrs. Helen Speidel, Mrs. Arthur Remboldt, Mrs. Fred F. Lang with Mrs. Arthur Brandenburg playing the accompaniment. A solo "After" was sung by Miss Shelia Fischer with Mrs. Emanuel Gackle playing the accompaniment. The pallbearers were Walter Deutscher, Lenhardt Rivinius, Oliver Otto, Lloyd Janke, Lloyd Schopp and Edwin Remmich. Burial was in the Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, North Dakota with the Haut Funeral Home in Gackle in charge of arrangements. Members of the Gackle Volunteer Fire Department attended as an Honorary Group. Many friends and relatives from Gackle and the surrounding communities of Streeter, Medina, Cleveland, Alfred, Jud and Fredonia.
