Jesse Dodds Biography Mr. Dodds was married on the 29th day of December, 1859 to Miss Ruby Blackman, a daughter of Lewis and Jane Blackman. She was born November 27, 1839, and died November 10, 1901. She was a most estimable lady and an active and faithful worker in the work of the Baptist church and Sunday school. Unto Mr. and Mrs. Dodds were born seven children, three daughters and four sons, as follows: Jennie, the wife of Al Cramer and the mother of three children; Harry, who wedded Miss Sarah Racster, by whom he has eight children; Jessie, the wife of F.F. Schutter and the mother of three children; Fred who resides at home; Charles; Hattie, the wife of William Volckmann and mother of one child; and Lewis, who has passed away. OBITUARY (Davenport newspaper) Dodds The funeral of Mrs. Aruba Dodds wife of Jesse Dodds occurred this morning at the family residence 1622 Brady Street and burial in the cemetery at Pleasant Valley. The deceased was a native of Pleasant Valley township her maiden name being Aruby Blackman. She was 62 years of age this month and her parents therefore were among the pioneers of this county. Most of her life was spent in Pleasant Valley where she was an active worker in the Baptist church and widely esteemed. A few years ago she and her husband moved to this city, and during most of her residence here she has been in poor health but a patient sufferer. Her husband and six children survive her, the children being Mrs. Schutter, Mrs. Cramer, and Harry Dodds of Pleasant Valley, Fred, Charles, and Hattie Dodds of this city. Cause of death on death registry: cancer of womb.
