Description	:	Arvid W. Johansen, the son of Frederik and Sophie (Hansen) Johansen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on July 5, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 21, 2006, at the age of 89. He grew up on the family farm near Kronborg. He received his education at country school District #20. When growing up he did odd jobs in farming, one of those included hand picking corn in fields in Iowa and where downtown Omaha currently is. Johansen, the son of Frederik and Sophie (Hansen) Johansen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on July 5, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 21, 2006, at the age of 89. He grew up on the family farm near Kronborg. He received his education at country school District #20. When growing up he did odd jobs in farming, one of those included hand picking corn in fields in Iowa and where downtown Omaha currently is. Arvid took over farming the family farm when his father died in 1941. Arvid was united in marriage to Ethel Christensen on May 14, 1949. Arvid continued to farm until retiring in the late 1980's. When he retired he spent his time helping his wife with their flower gardens. Arvid was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served several years on the church council. He liked making items with his scroll saw, and especially looked forward to Christmas when he could make ornaments for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arvid enjoyed the times when his grandchildren would come and visit. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold and adopted sister, Rhoda. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ethel Johansen of Marquette; four children, Clifford Johansen of Gordon, Wayne (Mary) Johansen of Marquette, Les (Barb) Johansen of Marquette and Carol (Jim) Harrenstein of Hastings; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, his cousin Jackie Egan and her daughter Kathy of Omaha and many other relatives and friends.
