From Nevada Representative May 17, 1921 (page 3) ARVILLA LOVICE STODDARD WALLSWORTH Arvilla Lovice Stoddard as born December 28, 1838, at Helena, N. Y., and died May 13, 1921, aged 82 years, 4 months and 15 days. On December 31, 1863, she was united in holy wedlock to Edwin Wallsworth who preceeded her to the spirit world in 1894. To this union two children were born. Mary, who died in infancy, and Percy, with whom she made her home for many years up to the time of her death. In 1869 she with her family moved to Story county, Iowa and spent all these years in this immediate neighborhood, about four years on a farm the remainder in the city of Nevada. She made her public confession of faith in Christ Jesus when a girl of about fourteen years of age, and untied with the church. She was admitted to the fellowship of Central Presbyterian church, Nevada, April 17, 1872, but some years later withdrew in the interests of the Holiness movement. She has been true to her faith unto the end. Her health began to fail several years ago, and since about the 15th of January this year she had been confined to her bed. She was a patient sufferer, and repeatedly said, "The Lord's will be done." She came from a family of preachers and religious workers, her father, Rev. John Stoddard, of the Methodist Episcopal church, was a circuit rider, and she knew the hardships, the struggles and triumphs of a pioneer preacher's family. Her sister, Mrs. O. W. Wilson died three years ago, so that now the last member of the family is passed away. Mrs. Wallsworth was woman of a most kindly disposition, a devoted wife, a self-sacrificing mother, a friendly and helpful neighbor. She made many friends who now mourn with her only son, two grandchildren and other relatives, with the confident hope of meeting her again. It is worthy of remark that in the early days of residence in Nevada, Mrs. Wallsworth was not only interested in but active in the best things for the community. She was a woman of rare worth and ability and was one of the early members of the Woman's club of the city, lending her wise counsel on matters of vital interest to the welfare of the community. She continued as an honorary member of the club to the time of her death. She was associated with the Rev. Isaiah Reid in the Holiness movement, acting as editor and general manager of his periodical "The Highway." Funeral services Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Central Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. J. G. Walz.
