Description	:	Asaph was a lawyer and heavily involved in the affairs of his town and county. In 1835, he served a term as an Ashtabula county commissioner. He also was a member of several civic minded organizations, and was very much anti-slavery. He served as a Justice of the Peace in Ashtabula county, and as such conducted many marriage ceremonies. He was appointed Postmaster of Geneva, Ashtabula county, OH, on May 27, 1861, and served in that same position until Nov. 19, 1876.
