Description	:	Ashford was the son of Benham & Amanda (Brewer) Nelson and the twin brother of Alfred Nelson. He grew up in Madison co, Indiana and later the family moved to Knox county, IL. He married Adelia Kays on 19 Sep 1867 in Knox co, Illiois. They farmed in Mercer co, IL for a number of years and moved and settled near Spencer, NE where they continued to engage in farming.
