He had been in declining health for some time. Funeral services were held from the Mayer funeral home at 11 am Monday, with the Rev. Dr. J.H. Mr. Croft was born January 6, 1869, in Georgetown, a son of the late William Ashley Croft and the late Mrs. R. E. DeLisseline Croft both members of well known families of lower SC. As a lade, following the war, mr. Croft did not get much formal education but was taught at home and as a young man he entered the mercantile business on the old Black River Road. Upon the death of his younger brother, the late Eugene Croft, entered the mercantile and bicycle business on Front Street. Following the death of his brother in 1935, Mr. Croft retired from active business. Mr. Croft was a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
